Sonke Svenson, PhD is Director, Research at Cerulean Pharma Inc. in Cambridge, MA, leading the development of nanopharmaceuticals as carriers in drug and siRNA delivery. He graduated from the Free University Berlin, Germany, in Organic and Macromolecular Chemistry. After postdoctoral appointments at Purdue, Northwestern, and Princeton University, Sonke has held research and management positions at The Dow Chemical Company (2000-2003) in Midland, MI, and Dendritic Nanotechnologies, Inc. (2003-2008) in Mt. Pleasant, MI. Sonke is an editorial board member of the journal Drug Delivery. He has organized several international symposia, three sponsored by the American Chemical Society (2002, 2003, and 2010), and was co-organizer and the Scientific Program Coordinator of the 4th International Dendrimer Symposium (2005). Sonke is co-inventor on 10 patent applications and issued patents on drug delivery technologies. He is the editor of four books on drug delivery, and has authored/co-authored 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
